This is not another "pennies on the dollar" affiliate program where we keep all of the profits and leave you with a small, insignificant percentage. Our affiliate program pays FIFTY PERCENT of the total sale, paid out on a monthly basis. How do I sign up?

In order to become an affiliate, you must register with AffiliateShops.com, the website which manages our affiliate program. Once your application has been approved, you will be granted access to the affiliate software, where you can find our ad banners, and most importantly check out how much money you have coming to you on a realtime basis!

Why use a third party site to track affiliate activity?

In the best interests of all parties involved, we decided it was smartest to use a third party affiliate management company, rather than create our own affiliate software. AffiliateShops.com has a strong reputation in the affiliate management business and their software is stable, flexible, and feature rich. Using neutral third party software also helps ensure that all affiliate commissions are accurately accounted for.

How does it work? (The Technical Details)

After your affiliate application has been approved, each affiliate is given a unique ID. This unique ID will be appended to any URL that you pass to our site. For example, you may show a banner link on your site that points to http://www.longislandpersonals.com?AFFID=12345. In this example, your affiliate ID is 12345. If a user clicks this banner, they will be redirected to the Long Island Personals site, and a cookie will be set on the customer's machine. This cookie will contain your affiliate ID. If this user decides to join the site AND PURCHASE A MEMBERSHIP PACKAGE WITHIN 14 DAYS, your affiliate ID will be credited the appropriate amount.
Your unique Affiliate ID and exact instructions on how to implement the banner links will be made available to you after your affiliate application has been reviewed and approved.

Are customers required to have cookies enabled on their browser for me to get credit for a sale?

Yes, all commission tracking is done by using cookies. This will not be a problem since almost all users have their browser configured to accept cookies, and in order to use Long Island Personals at all, cookies MUST be enabled on the user's browser.
Since cookies from Affiliateshop.com have a compact privacy policy, they will work with MSIE browsers, even if the user's privacy setting is set to HIGH.

How much can I make!?

There are no limits to how much money you can make with the affiliate program. Keep sending us paying members and we will keep sending you commission checks... it is that simple. Since our comission scale is so generous, your commissions can add up very quickly. This is, of course, adventageous to both of us - since you have a chance of making significant amounts of money with the affiliate program, you are more likely to place our links prominently on your website.

How long is the cookie's life cycle?

Each cookie will survive for 30 days before expiring. This means that if a user clicks the affiliate link from your site, creates a profile AND PURCHASES A MEMBERSHIP PACKAGE WITHIN 30 DAYS, you will still be credited for the sale! This is perfect for users who might want to preview the site for a little while before purchasing a membership plan.

How often am I paid?

Affiliates are paid by check on a monthly basis. The minimum check amount is $50. If your monthly commission is less than $50, your commissions will continue to rollover to the following month(s) until the $50 minimum is reached.

Do I need a website to participate in this program?

Yes - all affiliate applicants must have a live website. All applications and websites will be reviewed before your account is approved or declined. Although you are allowed and encouraged to use your affiliate links in emails to your customer base, ALL RECIPIENTS MUST BE ON AN OPT-IN LIST. We do NOT tolerate spam, and sending spam with your affiliate link is grounds for immediate termination of your affiliate account, WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT PAYOUT OF ANY MONEY OWED.

Can I create by own ad banners for use in the program?

Yes, but all banners must first be approved by Long Island Personals. In addition, if your banners ARE approved for use, you forfeit all rights to the banner to Long Island Personals. In order for banner impressions and clickthroughs to be properly tracked, all banners must be made available for other Long Island Personals affiliates to use, as part of our Affiliateshop banner page.

I have sent you some members in the past. Am I entitled to any money for their paid memberships?

No - you can only generate revenue from the affiliate program for subscription package purchases made by members referred from your affiliate link AFTER you have applied to our affiliate program and been accepted.

Can I purchase my own Long Island Personals membership through my affiliate link on my website?

ABSOLUTELY! That is a great way to save 50% on your initial subscription package!

First, you must read and agree with our Affiliate Agreement, shown below. Then, click the link which will bring you to the affiliate registration page. We will then review your affiliate application, which will be accepted or declined within 48 hours. You will be emailed with our decision, and further instructions, if applicable.

THIS AGREEMENT WAS LAST UPDATED ON August 30, 2004. 

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully, as they form the agreement between us. If you do not agree to these terms and conditions, you may not register as an affiliate.  By registering as an affiliate, you are agreeing to be bound by this Agreement, including all amendments made to date. 


To begin the enrollment process, you will submit a complete Affiliate Application form. We will evaluate your application in good faith and will notify you of your acceptance or rejection, usually within 48 hours. (If rejected, you can re-apply at any time.)  We may reject your application if we determine, in our sole discretion, that your site is unsuitable for the Program. Unsuitable sites include, but are not limited to, sites that: 

- are "under construction" or not live
- promote violence 
- promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age 
- promote illegal activities or violate intellectual property rights 
- are from applicants who we prefer not to be associated with, for whatever reason(s) at our sole discretion


We grant you a non-exclusive, revocable right to use our present banners and other such images for which we grant express permission, for the purpose of identifying your site as a program participant and linking to our site. You may not modify the banners or any of our images in any way without our express permission.


We reserve all of our rights to our trade names and trademarks and all other intellectual property rights.


SPAM (unsolicited email)

We will not tolerate the sending of unsolicited bulk emails which promote, or make reference to Long Island Personals, or any of its associated companies, partners, or employees. Other prohibited forms of advertising include postings to non-commercial newsgroups and cross-posting to multiple newsgroups at once. In addition, Affiliates may not advertise in any way that effectively conceals or misrepresents their identity, their domain name or their return email address. 

Any Affiliate who, in our opinion, breaches this ruling will have their Affiliate status cancelled immediately and any and all outstanding commissions WILL BE FORFEITED.

UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

Long Island Personals and its associated companies operate with the strictest codes of professional conduct. Any Affiliate who brings Long Island Personals or its associates into disrepute, or who promotes any form of slander, racism, or unfair business practices, will have their Affiliate status cancelled and any outstanding commissions WILL be forfeited.

We reserve the right to reject any affiliate application if in our opinion, that person or company violates established laws or commonly held standards of decency. 

An affiliate who ignores warnings to cease and desist any activities we deem negligent, inappropriate, or harmful to Long Island Personals and or other affiliates will be terminated.


ORDER PROCESSING

We will be solely responsible for processing every order for our products. Customers will use our secure online ordering process.

All of our rules, operating procedures and policies regarding customer orders and accounts will apply to orders we receive through special links on your site. We reserve the right to reject any order that does not comply with our rules, operating procedures and policies.

Every customer who buys a product through this program is deemed to be a customer of ours. You do not have the authority to make or accept any offer on our behalf. All our policies regarding customer orders, including pricing and problem resolution, will apply to these customers. We are not responsible for any representations made by you which contradict our policies.

You may purchase a site subscription for your OWN PERSONAL USE through your affiliate link! (That is a great way to save 50% on your initial subscription package!)


TRACKING OF SALES

We will be solely responsible for tracking sales we make to customers who follow links from your website. We use AffiliateShop.com as our authorized affiliate program manager.

Statements of your sales activity will be available to you in "realtime" with a special URL that we assign to you, accessible 24 hours per day and 7 days per week. You may access these stats via a password and username we assign. 


LINKS

We will provide you with a unique identifying URL for you to link to. Each sale or referral that is generated from this URL will be attributed to you. You will have access to your own private section to check your stats in Real Time. Your links to the unique URL can be text links or banner links, or a combination of the two, at your sole discretion.  We will provide you with a URL of all our banners, from which you can freely choose. You may add as many links to Long Island Personals, or remove such links, at anytime and without prior approval from us. 

** Inactive affiliates will be removed from participation in the Program. Inactive means little or no "click-throughs" via your banner/text links, as monitored via our affiliate program administrative panel, for a period of sixty (60) days. And/or, non-placement of affiliate banners/text ads. We will contact you after thirty (30) days of "inactivity". Efforts will be made to help and encourage your participation in the Program.

We will provide you with instructions on how to properly format the links. You are responsible for ensuring the links are formatted correctly. This will ensure accurate tracking of sales for credit to your account. Every effort will be made to ensure that our site is functional and available for customers referred to our site through your "affiliate link". 

We have NO responsibilities with regard to your site. Long Island Personals shall have no liability for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages or any loss of revenue or profits arising under or with respect to this agreement or the program. In addition, Long Island Personal's aggregate liability arising under or with respect to this agreement or the program shall in no event exceed total referral fees paid or payable to the affiliate under this agreement.


COMMISSION AND PAYMENT

Our current affiliate payout is 50%.  We will pay you 50% of the purchase price of the INITIAL membership package made by customers you refer to our site, through your assigned affiliate link.  You will not receive commission for any recurring charges associated with customers referred by your affiliate link.  You will not receive commission for purchases made by members that you may have referred to our site before joining our affiliate program.

Minimum amount for payment is fifty dollars ($50). Any amount under this will be held in your account until the minimum for pay out is reached. (This is ongoing.)

Payment will be made in the form of a check from us, paid in US dollars. Checks will be mailed within ten days of the first of the month for the prior month's sales. For example, commissions for sales made during May will be sent out on or before the 10th of June. We are not responsible for paying interest to Affiliates for accrued but not yet delivered Commission payments. 

Payment will be made out to you and mailed, via U.S. postal mail, to the address you provide at sign-up. (You will be able to modify your address and contact info via your private affiliate area.)

Any "refunds" to a customer, referred through your "affiliate link", will be deducted from your "credited" commission/s.  Charge backs, if any, will be deducted from your "credited" commissions. 

We reserve the right to changing our pricing plans, and affiliate payout at any time, without advanced notice to our affiliates.


TERM OF THE AGREEMENT

The term of this agreement will begin upon our acceptance of your affiliate program application and your placement of our banner or textual link on your site and will end when terminated by either party. Either you or we may terminate this agreement at any time, by giving the other party written notice of termination. This will be in the form of "email". You can only earn refferal fees on sales occurring during the term. We will never withhold any payment due. Payment of monies owed to you will be payable on the same schedule as stated above for commission payment. Upon termination of this agreement, the former Affiliate must remove all Affiliate links and graphics from its web site, and refrain from publishing same in any manner whatsoever.


INCOME TAX LIABILITY

You must understand and agree that you are acting as an independent contractor and as such will be responsible for your own Income Taxes and any other tax liabilities that affect the sales of our products in your state. By law, any commissions in excess of five hundred ninty nine ($599) dollars must be reported by us on a Federal Tax form (that's why we ask for your SSAN-social security number on the sign-up page). You will be sent this form and are required to sign and return to us before any 'further payment' to you can or will be made.


MODIFICATION

We reserve the right to modify our pricing plans and commission payouts at any time.  We reserve the right to discontinue the affiliate program at any time.  In the event of the affiliate program being discontinued, all affiliates will be paid the balance of commission due.  We may modify any of the terms and conditions contained in this Agreement, at any time and in our sole discretion, by posting a new agreement on our site. Any modifications to this agreement may also be notified, by email, at our sole discretion, to all participating affiliates. If any modification is unacceptable to you, you may terminate this agreement. Your continued participation in the program following notification of our new program will constitute binding acceptance of the change.  It is your sole responsibility to revisit this page to review our Affiliate Agreement updates.


RELATIONSHIP OF PARTIES

You and We are independent contractors, and nothing in this Agreement will create any partnerhip, joint venture, agency, franchise, sales representative or employment relationship between the parties. You will have no authority to make or accept any offers or representations on our behalf. You will not make any statement, whether on your site or otherwise, that reasonably would contradict anything written here. 


CONFLICTS AND DISPUTES

As with any program, a conflict or dispute may occasionally arise due to tracking, orders, commission calculation, performance issues and appeals regarding "termination for cause". Below is outlined who to contact and how to handle any such situation.

- If a concern should arise, send an email stating your full name, your affiliate ID, your address and state the specifics of your concern. Include any dates or numbers that apply. We will investigate immediately and will reply as soon as possible.

- Though we will be more than willing to settle the dispute in as fair a manner as possible we realize this situation may arise. In this case we will be open to mediation or arbitration to settle the matter.

- We have NOT pre-selected a mediator or arbitrator. Should one be needed we will select a non-biased, third party moderator.
